Development of Private Healthcare Facility Top

Whitfield ClinicThe healthcare market in Ireland is expanding rapidly. Our experience in this field was of great assistance to our client Euro Care International in its plans to develop a new private healthcare facility in Waterford, the Whitfield Clinic. We provided the construction, commercial, banking and operational legal requirements of the project which included the first joint venture in Europe for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, who operate the Radiotherapy Centre in the Whitfield Clinic. Transaction Value: €80,000,000.

Sale of Pre-eminent Private Hospital Top

Mater PrivateWe acted for the shareholders of the Mater Private Hospital, Ireland's pre-eminent private hospital in the recent sale of the company to CapVest. Three main contenders emerged from the two phase competitive bidding process which was co-ordinated by us and then followed the due diligence and negotiation of the transaction documents. The outcome was the successful sale of our client's business. Transaction Value: €385,000,000.

 

 

Sale of Trans-national Waste Management Company Top

CountryWe fulfilled the Irish jurisdiction requirements of Delta NV in its purchase of Indaver, a leading international waste management company. This was an intricate transaction which involved weaving international legal codes and practices into the overall deal. Our client’s bid and our negotiation of the transaction documents resulted in a successful acquisition. Transaction Value: Undisclosed.

 

Successful Defence of Claim for Breach of Contract Top

Four CourtsThis was a Commercial Court action for breach of contract. The claim against our clients had a monetary value in excess of €50,000,000. The defence mounted by us on our clients’ behalf resulted in the case settling and a complete win from our clients' perspective.

 

 

Co-location of private medical facility with public hospital Top

OfficesIrish Government policy has sought to increase the participation of private companies in the provision of healthcare services.  Our client's bid to construct and operate co-located medical facilities at sites across the country involved entering into a complex tender process with the Health Services Executive. The interesting part of the tender process was that it allowed the prospective candidates to put forward the type of operational, financial, and legal structures that were best suited to their vision for the medical facility, rather than having to curtail their ideas to a pre-set convention. We provided our client with the strategic support it needed to prepare its tender in a way that best enabled its vision for the future of the Irish healthcare service to be realised.
